It has become increasingly difficult to accommodate the growing number of medical students enrolled in courses that require a faculty or community preceptor due to the lack of available sites. The perceived barriers and lack of incentives have contributed to this growing problem. Engaging our current preceptor pools while simultaneously recruiting more volunteers to teach will help to alleviate the shortages that many programs are experiencing. This will in turn enrich the medical education of our future physicians by providing them with preceptors who are excited about teaching.
