Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) can be a mystery to students, residents and faculty. Knowing when to submit an application for a research proposal, what type of review and oversight are needed, who makes decisions about research projects moving forward (whether clinical, quality improvement or educational/evaluation), and why someone else decides about how and when you engage subjects in your research project can instill anxiety in both new and seasoned investigators. This seminar will answer your IRB questions, provide both large group facilitated discussions and small group hands-on learning, and help you gain the needed information to move your project from idea to reality while including human subjects and taking care to keep vigilant about their health and safety during your research study.
