This was the closing plenary talk for the 2016 Forum for Behavioral Science in Family Medicine Conference by Dr. Jennifer Edgoose, MD, MPH. The theme for this year's conference was “overcoming healthcare disparities and promoting multi-cultural practice.” Health inequities continue to plague our world and nation and can easily be found in our own backyards. While this wicked problem looms large, real change can be made in our private and public lives through intentional and courageous acts. In this talk Dr. Edgoose challenges us to consider not only the clear moral appeal to justice but also consider what personally ties each of us to this long game. She also shares a possible framework for intervention and sample tools and resources, which continue to guide her own commitment toward change.
