Use of Narrative Medicine to Discuss Health Disparities Through the Lens of Medical Ethics

Narrative medicine can be a useful tool to connect to stories in a deeper way. While many Americans are familiar with the Tuskegee Syphilis trials, there are many more ethical atrocities committed in the name of medicine. For many, "research" has contributed to medical distrust and worsening health disparities. I presented this lecture to connect residents with these atrocities. We then associated the experiences of sufferers of medically ethical atrocities to the experiences of our own patients and how that can impact the care received.
